18-20 Weeks

Milestones:  She got her first tooth last Saturday and rolled from tummy to back today! It is with such mixed emotions as she passes these firsts. I am so happy and delighted she is growing and thriving, but sometimes I just want her to slow down a little and stay a baby 🙂 At her 4 month appointment she was 14 pounds 9 oz 73% (she has always been 50% in weight), height 25.5 inches 91%, head circumference 43 cm 97%.

Sleeping/ EatingShe was sleeping really well again 7 pm to 7 am and then she got another cold and has been waking up here and there. She is now having a 6 oz bottle every two hours and with her first tooth we are going to try rice cereal and some purees.

Clothing: This girl is growing so much. She is still in some 3-6 month clothes, but some of them are too short and all her PJs are 6 month. We are also close to moving to size 3 diapers.

Avery’s Favorites:  When we were home she liked to get out of the house and go for a walk or the store. If we were home too much she would get fussy and want to go do something. She likes this piano toy that plays music and she can chew on. She is also liking her purse that is a teether. Pretty much anything she can chew on is the best thing.

Things I want to remember:

We had our first snow storm with Avery. She loved looking out the windows and seeing the snow. She had a cold already and so did I so I didn’t really take her outside, but she loved just watching the snow fall. She started saying ba ba and blowing bubbles out of her mouth. She also started making these high pitched screams. She loves to hear herself making noises. Avery enjoys to be on top of daddy’s shoulders and walking around the house. If she is in the worst mood she starts smiling. Avery also likes it when I make funny faces in the bathroom mirror, even at the fussy time of night I just go in there and make crazy faces and she is so amused.

What we have been up to

It has been a busy couple of weeks. We enjoyed our last weeks at home and kept life simple. Some of the days we were trapped inside because of the snow storm and we have a very steep driveway. One day we did meet up with cousin Silas and auntie Alex and the babies finally noticed each other and had fun looking at each other. Nana and Papa came to watch Avery for Valentine’s Day date night and spent the night and took care of her. It was nice to just sleep and not be listening for her to wake up. The next day Avery’s cousin Karis was born. We are so blessed to have girl cousins close in age on both sides of the family! This girl is going to have so much fun with these little ladies. I started back to work and Avery started at daycare. She absolutely loves it there. She smiles the teachers, and is interacting with the other babies. They have an open door policy so I just drop in whenever I want to see her and she is always smiling and playing when I stop by. It has been hard on me because I miss being the one seeing every smile and laugh, but I know as we get into a routine it will get easier. Our friends Lincoln and Joelle came up with their kids and Avery’s baby friend Emma for a visit.

16 & 17 weeks

Milestones:  We we went to the doctors to make sure she didn’t have an ear infection so she weighs 14 pounds 2 oz. We have our four month appointment next week.

Sleeping/ Eating: The last two weeks have been rough on the sleeping front. She was teething pretty bad last week and then came down with a cold this week. Poor girl just keeps waking up with a stuffy nose and can’t go back to sleep. How quickly I had forgotten about those sleepless nights of the first few weeks. Some people might be able to handle them better, but you can ask Tyler, this mom needs her sleep. Since her teething was bothering her so much she consistently was refusing to nurse. I was planning on stopping when I went back to work anyway, since my supply was so low, but it was hard for me to stop. I also feel bad that she got a cold right after we stopped. I wish things would have worked better with that whole thing, but it was out of my control with the pnemonia.

Clothing: I spent a good chunk of last saturday putting away clothing that doesn’t fit her anymore and washing 3-6 month clothes. Some of those 6 month footie pajamas are already getting small! This little lady is growing so fast! I think she is still really long for her age and I will be curious to see what percentile she falls into at her four month appointment.

Avery’s Favorites:  She is in love with her feet. Whenever she is getting a diaper change she will just grab at her feet and do these baby yoga poses. She is also trying to crunch up he whole body. I think she is working on her core so she can sit-up. She loves this little crinkle book that had a cookie teether on it.  She still likes her play mat, but is growing out of her bouncer chair. At the end of the week we got her a jumperoo. At first she didn’t know what to think of it, and then she decided it was really fun to jump and play.

Things I want to remember:

She is starting to laugh more. I swear she saves up all her laughs for when her daddy comes home from work. I will be finishing up dinner and I just hear these tiny giggles coming from the other room.  Her cold and teething have been hard, it is so sad when your baby just looks at you and with their little eyes saying mom what’s wrong? I have been doing a lot of cuddling and holding her in hopes that it will make her feel better.

What we did this week

The last two weeks have been rough. Avery is not feeling her best and sleep hasn’t been consistent. I have been sticking around the house and doing normal everyday things like going to the store.  I will be headed back to work in a few weeks and am mentally preparing for that. Life will be very different and much busier so I am soaking in this time with her where we can just have our own  little routine together at home.
